Introduction to Kenyan Tea

The Journey begins

Tea was introduced to Kenya in the early 1990 sand has since become one of the country’s leading agricultural products. The fertile highlands of Kenya provide the perfect climate for growing some of the word’s best tea.

Early Days of Tea Cultivation

British settlers established the first tea plantations in the 1920s. Piooners like Arnold Dether MCDonell & C.H. Harisot, played a key role in the development of tea industry in Kenya.

By the 1960s, tea farming spread to local farmers, and Kenya became a majotr tea exporter. The establishment of Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) helped small holder farmers.

Modern Day Success

Today, Kenya is one of the world’s top tea producers & exporters, known for it’s bold, and flavorful teas. Kenyan tea is enjoyed globally for it’s quality & rich taste.
